Nigeria: A Scholarship to Offer Young People International Exposure
What country?
Nigeria
Who for?
Nigerian youth with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geosciences, Management, Innovation or Sustainable Development.
What action?
The International Master’s Degree Scholarship was set up by TotalEnergies in partnership with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and the Embassy of France in Nigeria. Its objective is to provide outstanding young Nigerians with a unique opportunity abroad and to train highly qualified graduates. The scholarship is part of a larger drive to foster access to high-level education.
Since 2012, the program has allowed us to support young Nigerian students by fully covering their tuition fees, accommodation and other living expenses. Beneficiaries can enroll in the one-to-two-year Master’s program of their choice at one of France’s most prestigious colleges, where they receive support for the duration of their studies.
What impacts?
Since 2019, ten students have been awarded the scholarship each year, following a rigorous selection process that saw no fewer than 7,470 people apply in 2020.
In total, 54 young Nigerians have benefited from the program, and all of the graduates have gone on to find employment in public bodies or private organizations in Nigeria or abroad.
TotalEnergies Foundation is proud to contribute to this initiative and allow these young Nigerians to build their professional futures while expanding their horizons in an international environment.
