Anne-Valérie Troy, Road Safety Senior Advisor at Total, Appointed Chair of the Global Road Safety Partnership

Anne-Valérie Troy, who is 53 years old, joined Total in 1991 after studying international and European law. She has held various positions in the Communications, Legal and Marketing Departments in Africa and Paris. Since 2016, she has been Road Safety Senior Advisor and head of the road safety program at Total Foundation. She has now been appointed Chair of the Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP).

The GRSP has been creating public-private partnerships for 20 years to help reduce road accidents in developing countries by campaigning for road safety legislation, promoting training for professional drivers, raising awareness among younger generations and advising on new policies. As more people gain access to mobility, road safety has become a vital priority. That’s why, in 2005, Total chose to become a member of the GRSP and to join its Steering Committee in 2013. “The strong partnerships that Total has forged with other major players in road safety can be drivers for development for the GRSP, as well as contribute to stepping up operational coordination with large organizations,” said AnneValérie Troy.

Anne-Valérie Troy and the GRSP are set to tackle a number of challenges, not least the preparations for the Third Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety, to be held in Sweden in 2020. The conference is an opportunity to look back over the United Nations’ Decade of Action for Road Safety, but also and above all to set new targets for the next ten years. As the event approaches, it is essential to get as many players as possible on board and update the GRSP’s roadmap with ambitious objectives for safer and more inclusive mobility in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
