Educational support program at Corleto Pericara
The Action! program is under way at the “16 agosto 1860” middle school in Corleto Pericara, a village nestled at the heart of the Basilicata region in Italy. Advised by Maria Teresa Lapadula, the local Action! contact, employees from the Tempa Rossa site (TotalEnergies EP Italie), Luana Savino and Roberto Fanelli decided to volunteer to help the young people in the region.
What did their assignment consist of? The school is set in a rural environment and its resources are sometimes limited. Students from different age bands and with different levels, are often mixed together in the same class. In this context, the committed employees work with students on specific learning programs according to their knowledge and the teachers’ requirements.
Since the initial discussions with the school, different learning programs were created, enabling several employees to volunteer. For example: “Us and others” - a program to learn French in which francophone expatriates help local youngsters to practice speaking French. “Programming & Robotics” or “Math & Applications” - two programs to introduce the basics of electronics and information technology by creating a small electronic circuit.
The implementation of these programs contributed to creating a stimulating and varied learning environment for students with workshops led by the affiliate employees in Italy, who are experts on these topics. Thanks to the Action! Program, the latter help the region’s youngsters to acquire knowledge, discover different professions and imagine themselves in the world of work. The commitment from the Italian affiliate’s employees is in keeping with that of the Company to help young people - in particular the most vulnerable - to take their destiny into their own hands.
