TotalEnergies EP Congo: Education to leverage inclusion for underprivileged young people

A dozen members of staff from TotalEnergies EP Congo have taken part in an initiative to support street children in learning basic school subjects.

The Company’s centenary year, 2024, was marked by the strong commitment of TotalEnergies EP Congo in favor of young people’s education and inclusion as part of the employee volunteer program, Action! supporting solidarity initiatives.

In October 2024, teams from the affiliate went to help children in the Care Center for Minors (CAM) at Mvou-Mvou in Pointe-Noire. In answer to the appeal from CARITAS Congo, a dozen members of staff helped the children learn reading, writing, drawing and mathematics.

The assignment was an opportunity for the TotalEnergies EP Congo staff to promote the values of mutual support and solidarity by creating strong ties with the local communities.

Kiri Mariampillai (TotalEnergies EP Congo) talks about the positive impact of her involvement with the young people:

Being part of this mission was a truly enriching experience. I met some wonderful children and was able to help them read and do mathematics. I was really impressed by their determination and eagerness to learn. Their smiles and thirst for knowledge showed me just how significant the impact of our commitment as volunteers can be for these children.
Spending time with them reminded me of the importance of giving attention to others. I’m deeply grateful for having been able to be a part of this mission and I hope that my story will encourage other members of staff to sign up for the Action! program.
