After a pilot study last year, TotalEnergies Foundation’s contribution will help extend road safety inspections to include more elementary and high schools and ensure targeted technical support for these schools which are part of two World Bank financed projects in the education sector.
In Tanzania, road related injuries are the main cause of death among 5- to 19-year-olds, with more than 1,000 fatalities are caused by crashes every year in this age group. This Program financed by the World Bank and supported by TotalEnergies Foundation is a unique opportunity to save even more lives and prevent young people from being seriously injured on their way to school. It is expected that at the end of the Program, the journey of 100,000 students attending 100 schools would have been made safer.
