To support nonprofit organizations working to help the most vulnerable members of society, TotalEnergies Foundation has selected eight new partners as part of its commitment to youth inclusion and education.
Last April, TotalEnergies Foundation decided to maintain the launch of its first call for partners despite the health crisis, then at its peak. Made more pressing by the economic and social challenges looming on the horizon, the call for partners aimed to meet, select and support new nonprofits working to help vulnerable young people within the Group’s host communities and regions in France. In all, 117 applications were received, resulting in the selection of eight nonprofits, which will benefit from financial support and assistance rolling out their initiatives over a period of three years.
The eight new partners supported by TotalEnergies Foundation are as follows:
Chemins d’avenirs
Chemins d’Avenirs supports middle and high school students from isolated and rural areas with their career choices. The nonprofit aims to remove the physical and psychological barriers that prevent these young people from reaching their full potential by working together with the national education system, families, businesses and civil society.
la ZEP
Zone d’Expression Prioritaire (ZEP) organizes workshops on self-expression and media education for 14-to-25-year-olds in high schools, local job centers, second-chance schools and shelters for young migrants. Supervised by professional journalists, the young people gain skills and confidence while learning to play an active role in society.
Rêv’elles
Rêv’elles works for equal opportunities by empowering young women between 14 and 20 years of age from low-income neighborhoods to step up and take on leadership roles. The nonprofit offers an innovative, inspiring and practical education program to help each participant achieve their dreams and build their career.
Fondation Apprentis d’Auteuil
As part of the La Touline project, the Fondation Apprentis d’Auteuil provides long-term support to young adults who have been in the care of child protective services in order to help them achieve professional, social (housing, health, etc.) and emotional independence during the pivotal period of transition to adulthood.
Don Bosco
The Don Bosco network comprises a dozen homes for minors in the care of child protection or judicial protection services. The Suivi 8/25 project, led by the Association des Maisons Don Bosco, provides continued support for the most vulnerable young people when they leave the homes at 18, so that they can develop their independence. Six homes are included in this project.
APELS
As part of the Déclics Sportifs program, the Agence pour l’Éducation par le Sport (APELS) identifies young talent with little or no formal education in sport clubs and then creates bridges with the business world. The goal is to train beneficiaries, through internships and sport education, in the soft skills and behavior needed to succeed in the working world.
AJIR
Pau-based AJIR supports the inclusion of migrant minors by helping them to learn a trade, working as a network with France’s Apprentice Training Centers and local companies. In response to the crisis, the nonprofit aims to continue its administrative, educational and social support for young people, and also enable the most affected companies to offer secure employment to apprentices.
Rebonds!
REBONDS! is a team of educators who regularly organize rugby events in schools, before/after-school care centers and specialized educational institutions in the Toulouse region. In doing so, the nonprofit is able to identify young people in vulnerable situations so that it can give them the opportunity to join a rugby club and offer social support to guide them in their academic and career choices.
In these difficult times, TotalEnergies Foundation has also decided to renew its support to a number of partner nonprofits that have requested an extension of their project.
TotalEnergies Foundation is delighted to welcome these partners to its network of nonprofit organizations, and looks forward to working with them over the next three years. Their projects will help empower young people amid the crisis.
