About YOURS

YOURS-Youth for Road Safety is a global organization that focuses on empowering young people to lead and deliver action on road safety. Through education, advocacy, and engagement, YOURS seeks to reduce the impact of road traffic crashes on young people. The organization is a direct follow-up of the United Nations World Youth Assembly for Road Safety in 2007. More than 400 young people from over a 100 countries gathered to discuss the global road safety crisis and how young people can be part of the solution. One of the main wishes of the Youth Ambassadors was the creation of a global youth organization that would lead a global youth movement for road safety.

Through the Youth Coalition, YOURS provides youth with the much-needed resources, capacity development and partnerships opportunities to implement evidence-based local actions and innovative strategies for (global and local) advocacy.

The Claiming Our Space Campaign

#ClaimingOurSpace was a global project launched in 2022 aimed at engaging with young people in multiple countries to advocate for meaningful youth participation in decision-making processes around road safety. The project included an online campaign that engages and collects insights from hundreds of young people from more than 50 countries. Those collaborations were a key source during the Art Residency on Road Safety that gathered a multicultural group of young artists. The artworks produced were curated and exhibited in a Global Art Exhibition at the United Nations Headquarters during the High-Level Meeting on Improving Global Road Safety (HLM). During the HLM, a delegation of young leaders reached the global decision-making table. They effectively initiated an intergenerational dialogue with different decision-makers. Claiming Our Space Campaign reached 2M people through social media interactions, web visits, in person event and media coverage.
