Patrick Béghin – President
Some young people are incapable of imagining their future. I think it’s amazing to be able to give them the opportunity to regain their self-confidence.
What’s your commitment to youth?
Seuil is an association that focuses on troubled young people who don't meet the criteria of standard solutions. These young people are in home or juvenile detention center or closed educational center. This is why we approach these young people and offer them to take part in educational walks.
It’s a challenge that consists in walking for 2 to 3 months for 1,000 to 1,600 km in France and abroad, alone, without any music, without a smartphone, simply accompanied by an adult. It’s a time where they can imagine their future and build a project for their return, in liaison with their educator of course.
It means discovering a nomadic lifestyle, learning autonomy, and feeling proud about what they’re achieving. 60% of our young people start a reintegration process when they get back from their walk.
What’s your project with TotalEnergies Corporate Foundation?
Since it was founded, Seuil has organized more than 300 walks. Our ambition today is to gradually increase the number of young people welcomed from 35 to 55 each year.
The project we have with TotalEnergies Corporate Foundation is to expand further across the French territory, particularly in south-west and northern France.
Support is not just financial. It comes in other forms, particularly the mobilization of volunteers, employees who support us in the implementation of several projects.
Can you sum up “creating partnerships” in a few words?
“Creating partnerships” to me holds a notion of sharing. Sharing values, sharing objectives, sharing means.
“Creating partnerships” is a long-term commitment, lasting solidarity – for as long as we can.
