The Project

A student:
I wasn’t really excited about the project.

A student:
I was super happy because I did it last year, too.

A student:
I didn’t really want to do it.

A student:
I’ve always liked the theater, I’ve done it since I was a little kid.

A student:
I thought that I’d learn something new. That it might be interesting.

A student:
I didn’t sign up for it. They made me do it.

A student:
I was happy because there were field trips.

A student:
I wasn’t thrilled. But as we got into it, I liked it a lot. It’s a really great project.

Theater

A student:
How did I see theater before?

A student:
Boring.

A student:
I never go.

A student:
Theater??

A student:
It seemed kind of old-fashioned.

A student:
Theater was never my thing.

A student:
I thought it was more for old people.

A student:
It wasn’t for young people.

A student:
It doesn’t suck, but…

A student:
I thought it was a joke at first. It makes you laugh, but it doesn’t blow you away.

A student:
Sitting in an uncomfortable chair. Your back hurts after 30 minutes. Your butt hurst after 10!

Les Ateliers

A student:
What I liked about the workshops was

A student:
The warm-ups beforehand, the Lucky Luke game.

A student:
And when we played games: whomp, whoosh, whack!

A student:
The samurai.

A student:
It gave you a chance to express your feelings.

A student:
I really like the group games. It brought us closer together I think.

A student:
We pantomime an “A”, the person makes an “O” and the two people on the side make an “I”

Meeting New People

A student:
Meeting the other kids didn’t go great at first, to be honest.
Sometimes, I even wanted to hit them.

A student:
It was complicated because they didn’t really mix with us.

A student:
We didn’t connect right away.

A student:
Us, we’re rocking, lots of vibe, etc., 24/7. And them, they’re like this…

A student:

They were nice, they weren’t mean.

A student:
They’re from a general high school; we’re from a vocational one.

A student:
We got to know them. I liked them a lot. It’s all good.

A student:
We try to be “professionalism”. Can you say that? Nop, you can’t!

A student:
It was a good experience on a personal level. There were girls, too!

Instructors

A student:
The instructors were kind of like buddies.

A student:
Geoffrey, Aymeric, Julie and the others? Yeah, they’re cool!

A student:
We didn’t feel left out.

A student:
They were there to share their passion.

A student:
They were really great! Real softies.

A student:
And Daniel? He’s my Danny-O!

Memories

A student:
I think our best memory will be our performance later.

A student:
We’ll all be up the same creek together. It’ll bring us closer and we’ll really be like, hey, listen up everyone.

A student:
I’ve never done this except for end-of-year events in elementary school.

A student:
I hope it goes OK.

Excursions

A student:
The plays were good, actually. I really like the first one. Even though it lasted four hours.

A student:
All Birds by Wajdi Mouawad.

A student:
I was shocked, I loved it.

A student:
The play we saw on Israel and Palestine was good. Brilliant!

A student:
Four hours…

A student:
We went to see the play “John”. It really made an impression on me, it touched me.

A student:
You feel the character’s loneliness. You could lose yourself in it.

A student:
But the girl who lost her mother – what a loser!

In A Word

A student:
A word that sums up the experience? Enjoyment.

A student:
Sharing.

A student:
Fun.

A student:
Unforgettable.

A student:
Lucky.

A student:
Just one word is tough!

A student:
Fantastic.

A student:
Theater! The key word is theater. And dive right into it.
