The CMQ IndMer Bretagne was created in 2016 and brings together training organizations, research labs, institutional partners, associations and businesses in the maritime sector. The goal of the association is to better coordinate the training offer to meet the skills requirements of the maritime industry in Brittany. Among other things, the CMQ IndMer Bretagne is a winner of PIA3 (investment program for the maritime industry), the aim of which is to offer training in highly sought-after maritime professions, in keeping with the ecological and energy transitions.
The project “Formez-vous et embarquez pour des métiers de la mer” (Train and see your future set sail) is part of this process. This experimental project, kicked off in 2023, takes place over the school year and concerns different sites along the Brittany coastline in turn. The young people benefit from a wide range of opportunities for professional integration, such as taking part in a “PRO BREIZH” day to discover maritime professions alongside businesses in this sector, discussions with young people already in training, visits of training organizations, short discovery courses at technical facilities, and participating in activities at sea, particularly the possibility of embarking on the training sailboat, Le Français.
TotalEnergies Corporate Foundation will be backing the initiative for three years (2024-2026), the objective being to support 2,500 young people essentially in situations of professional integration, career change or vocational training. The young people will be selected in partnership with local missions, the French unemployment office and professional integration associations. TotalEnergies Corporate Foundation thereby intends to contribute to building robust career paths for these young people.
