Culture is on the move in Madagascar, with the “Alliance mobile” traveling bus

The “Alliance mobile” traveling bus sets off twice a month to roam the streets of Antananarive on the roads of Madagascar to meet young people from disadvantaged working-class districts who have little access to culture. As part of the Action! program, staff from the Madagascan affiliate of TotalEnergies worked with partner associations that support the initiative.

TotalEnergies Marketing Madagasikara SA is a partner of “Alliance mobile - Sharing culture on the move”, a project kicked off by the the Alliance française in Antananarivo and funded by the French Embassy in Madagascar through the system to Support French Associations Abroad (STAFE 2018).

Share, educate and entertain

Fitted out to be an all-in-one library, classroom and moving stage, the bus offers NGO in Anatananarive and the schools in the regions it travels through, cultural and artistic events and entertainment* in French, and reading-focused activities to stimulate young people’s creativity and expression in French.

An extensive route

In 2024, the bus added 20 new stops along its route. It reached out to 2,500 young people in disadvantaged working-class districts, almost 500 more people than in 2023. The tours are an opportunity for staff from TotalEnergies Marketing Madagasikara SA to take part in the traveling events by working with partner associations supporting the initiative. In May 2024, three volunteer members of staff from the affiliate seized the opportunity offered by the Action! program for the “Alliance mobile” project.
