Broadening cultural horizons as a vector of empowerment for young people

Making access to culture easier for young people and encouraging open-mindedness when it comes to cultural activities are two of the priorities at TotalEnergies Corporate Foundation. Culture helps broaden horizons, strengthens harmony in diversity and is a source of independence and fulfillment. It plays a fundamental role in individual empowerment and fosters equal opportunities.

TotalEnergies Foundation has opted for cultural sponsorship that aims to give easy access to major institutions and, in doing so, open a window on the world by promoting cultural diversity, a source of dialogue and mutual enrichment.

Projects promoting cultural diversity

TotalEnergies Foundation has been a partner of l'Institut du monde arabe (IMA) for more than 20 years now, and supports the programs, mediation actions and educational workshops aimed at young people from socio-cultural structures or schools in priority areas.

TotalEnergies Foundation has also supported the Fondation pour la mémoire de l'esclavage (FME) since its creation. It brings cultural diversity to the fore by promoting the French Republican values of freedom, equality and fraternity, and France’s commitment to fight against racism, discrimination, and all modern forms of slavery. Partners since 2019, the FME and TotalEnergies Foundation have chosen three specific projects for young people aged 12 to 25: the speech contest with the écoles de la 2e chance, the Flamme de l’Égalité contest and the call for Education projects.

TotalEnergies Foundation is also a sponsor for many of the Saisons et Années croisées organized by the Institut français since 2012. The events were an opportunity for France to exchange with more than 100 countries including Africa in 2020, Portugal and Brazil in 2025. Focused on education, arts and culture, the Saisons contribute to strengthening dialogue between cultures and societies and multilingualism. As part of the Saison France-Brazil 2025, the Foundation is more specifically partnering the Expo Favela Innovation Paris - two days of Franco-Brazilian meetings centered around social innovation, ecology, art and entrepreneurship.

All these projects and programs aim to arouse curiosity among young people and help them reveal their potential, by encouraging not just culture “for all” but culture “with everybody”.
